MTS India the CDMA teleservices from Sistema-Shyam Teleservices Limited (SSTL) has planned to roll out postpaid plans in Kolkata circles.
SSTL’s CDMA Mobile services under the brand name of MTS India was launched in India in March 2009 and in less than a year the operator has grabbed an impressive 3.5 million subscribers in eleven circles which include Tamil Nadu including Chennai, Kerala, Rajasthan, Kolkata, West Bengal, Bihar-Jharkhand, Delhi, Karnataka, Haryana, Mumbai and Maharashtra-Goa.
Along with voice-sms services, MTS is also offering EVDO based high speed (upto 3.1Mbps) wireless internet services with plug-n-play USB device under brand name of MBlaze in selected cities over India.
As per Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India (AUSPI) report, MTS has a customer base of more than 3 lakh in Kolkata and more than 5 lakh in West Bengal on 28th February 2010. It should be noted that SSTL was the only licensee in 2008 2G spectrum auction who chose CDMA sector, and still now MTS is going great. Offering a cheapest 30p/min or 1p/2seconds for lifetime MTS, despite a CDMA operator has done very well. At present Kolkata and WB has 3 CDMA operators - Reliance, Tata Indicom (& Virgin Mobile) and MTS.
From the very first, MTS is offering great network in Kolkata. Seamless connectivity of MTS is spreading through out the districts of WB in a rapid way. Following its success on prepaid services, MTS plans to roll out postpaid services in Kolkata and West Bengal. MTS also offers postpaid services in Rajasthan circles at an affordable price. During this april, MTS plans to roll out postpaid plans in selected cities. Kolkata, Siliguri, Asansol, Durgapur, Haldia, Khargpur, Krishnanagar will get MTS postpaid offerings very soon.
Targeting high ARPU users, MTS is also planning to roll out CDMA smartphones priced from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 25000. MTS customers will be really happy to know that MTS is also coming up with internet on mobile with these smartphones offering.
