After a long delay finally Maharashtra and Goa circle will get the next generation BSNL 3G Mobile and Data services from 11th June.
The Pan-India 3G operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is going to make its 3G debut in the Pune, Goa, and 55 other cities in Maharashtra and Goa telecom circle from June 11th.
Maharshtra’s cultural capital city of Pune will be the first city to witness the launch of the 3G mobile service by BSNL on 11th June while Panjim and Goa will get commercial 3G services from 24 June.
Apart from this BSNL will also enhance the services area to all the district headquarters of the Maharashtra and Goa circle along with 55 major cities by the end of July-2010.

The core 3G UMTS network for next generation 3G GSM mobile and HSPA Broadband services is live in test mode in Pune, Panjim, Ngapur, Aurangabad, Lonavala, Baramati, Beed, Nashik, Deolali, Karegaon, Shiradi, Kolhapur, Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi, Vasai, Ratnagiri, Osmanabad, Sangli, Jalgaon, Amravati, Akola, Dhule, Igatpuri, Satara, Nandurbar, Ichalkarnaji, Karad, Sawantvadi, Alibagh, Karjat, Khopoli, Mahad, Pen, Solapur, Pandharpur, Washim, Latur, Bhusawal, Hingoli, Jalna, Buldhana, Wardha, Yeotmal, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and some more cities in Maharashtra-Goa circle.
At present BSNL is the only service provider to procure the 3G spectrum to operate next generations 3G Mobile and Data services(3.5G HSPA Data Service) in the Maharashtra-Goa region.
The existing BSNL 2G prepaid mobile subscribers of Maharashtra and Goa telecom circle can migrate to BSNL 3G services just by one SMS “3G YES” to 53733 while Postpaid 2G subscriber need to send ACT 3G to 53733
