Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream Uno, and Karbonn Sparkle V were released under Google's Android One initiative. One of the most intriguing aspects about the Android One smartphones was a promise of regular software updates for two years from their release. They were initially launched with Android v4.4 KitKat but now that Android 5.0 Lollipop has been announced by Google, and it has been released for Nexus devices. The question is, when it will be released for Android One devices?
According to a report from India Today, Android 5.0 Lollipop update will start rolling out for Android One devices starting next month, though it isn't clear which one of them will receive it first. However, Spice is planning to release it for the Dream Uno sometime in mid-January 2015.
Motorola and LG have already started pushing out Android 5.0 update to some of their devices. Samsung, HTC, and OnePlus will shortly release the Android Lollipop update to its flagship devices. Has Google failed with its promise of fast and consisted updates to Android One devices?
