Telecom operator Bharti Airtel has partnered with Government of Andhra Pradesh for mobile literacy mission in collaboration with SERP. Under the partnership, an initiative named ‘E-Shakti’ has launched to raise the mobile internet awareness of the women in Andhra Pradesh. Honorable Chief Minister, Government of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the mission in Vijayawada.
“Connecting the community and its members to the world through the Internet is becoming increasingly essential for community development and social progress. E-shakti will be an ecosystem of digital literacy awareness, education and training that will help the women folk of the state of Andhra Pradesh to take a lead in the global digital economy and help us shape a technologically empowered society. I am happy that Airtel and SERP have come forward with this noble initiative in an effort to empower women by making them digitally literate,” Chief Minister said during the inauguration.
The mission E-Shakthi will train the women with various useful knowledge of internet, so that they can use internet to improve their daily lives. The Government has chosen girls from schools, colleges and women employees of various Government departments to be trained under the project. The 1st phase of the initiative will be conducted across two districts of Andhra Pradesh – Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam.
Email usage, browsers, using YouTube, IRCTC booking system, apps like social media etc. will be among the lesson. The sessions, which would be attended by around 70-90 members will be in Telugu and would be aided by videos.
