Bharti Airtel said it has enhanced its network by deploying additional spectrum across all 122 districts in Assam and the North East. The company has completed the deployment of the additional spectrum it acquired in July 2024. The addition of 5 MHz on the 1800 MHz band in Assam and 5 MHz on the 2100 MHz band in Assam and the North East will improve Airtel's 4G and 5G network capacities. "This upgrade will enhance data speeds and provide significantly better coverage inside homes and buildings in both urban and rural areas," Airtel said in an official statement on Thursday.

Coverage Along Highways and Rural Areas
"The deployment will also enable Airtel to offer wider coverage along highways and rail routes, as well as increase its footprint in rural areas as demand for connectivity continues to rise exponentially," the company said.
Commenting on the spectrum deployment, Bharti Airtel said, "With the integration of this new spectrum, customers across the state can now enjoy enhanced call connectivity, faster data speeds, and overall improved performance. We remain committed to Assam and the North East and will continue to invest in technologies that will elevate the service experience for our customers."

Additional Spectrum Secured
Airtel said it secured 97 MHz of spectrum in the recently concluded spectrum auction. The company has not only re-acquired its expired spectrum holdings but also expanded its Sub-GHz spectrum and efficiently consolidated its fragmented spectrum blocks into continuous spectrum.
As Airtel deploys additional spectrum, customers can expect enhanced browsing speeds and better indoor coverage. Additionally, Airtel has recently begun re-farming mid-band spectrum for 5G to meet growing data demands, as reported earlier.
