LG will start seeding the Android 8.0 Oreo update to its 2017 flagship smartphone, the LG G6 starting from April 30. The update will be first released in South Korea which will be followed by other countries soon. LG has confirmed this news via a blog post. The company even confirmed that it would be adding all the AI features which were introduced with the LG V30 ThinQ smartphone. The South Korean company also confirmed that it would roll out the Android Oreo update to the LG V30 and LG G5 in the coming weeks, which is a good thing for the users. The LG G5 was released a couple of years ago at the MWC 2016 event, while the LG V20 arrived in September 2016. So LG is providing software update to a two-year-old smartphone, which isn't a bad thing at all.

To recall, a few weeks back, LG announced its Software Upgrade Center in South Korea to deliver faster updates to the users. During the same time, it stated that the G6 would receive Oreo update by the end of April. Sticking to the words, LG now announced the commencement of rollout in South Korea starting April 30. Sadly, the global rollout schedule of the update was not revealed by LG.

The Android 8.0 Oreo update, once released will be pushed to the LG G6 in the form of OTA and users can even install it via the LG Bridge software. The Android Oreo update will add a lot of new features to the LG G6. The usual Oreo features introduced by Google such as notification channels, autofill passwords, Bluetooth audio codecs such as LDAC codec, Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, and some visual changes will also be made to the smartphone.

The LG V30 ThinQ arrived with several AI features such as scene recognition in the camera app and so on. All the features are expected to make into the LG G6 as well. In other news, LG is planning to release the LG G7 ThinQ smartphone on May 2, which is also expected to pack all these features and might come with a dedicated hardware key to use the AI functionalities.
