BSNL Commercially Rolls Out 3G mobile Service in Chennai, Video call @30p
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, India’s leading telecom operator and 3G GSM Mobile service provider commercially rolls out 3G mobile services in Chennai Telecom circles with an exiting lowest tariff plans. BSNL 3G subscribers can enjoy the Video callings high-speed Mobile Internet with download speeds up to 3.6 mbps and ‘Live Mobile TV 24 popular television channels.
BSNL 3G the next generation mobile service will be available to all Prepaid and Postpaid GSM mobile subscribers of Chennai. BSNL’s new 3G Prepaid Connections comes at just Rs.59. This starter pack contents U-SIM (3G Sim card), after the activations of 3G SIM card the customer has to recharge with the FRC-120 for the desired 3G tariff plan which content the lowest tariff for voice, video calls and Data usage. The 3G Subscriber can enjoy Local Voice and Video calls at just 30 Paisa per Minute and All STD video calls will be chargeable at 50 paisa.
In case of migration from 2G prepaid to 3G prepaid, the unutilized account balance in 2G will be carried forward to 3G. However, the carry forward of balance validity from 2G to 3G prepaid may not be allowed. In order to get validity, the customer has to recharge with the FRC-120
A Subramanian, chief general manager, BSNL, Chennai, stated that “We expect one lakh customers to subscribe to our 3G service in a month-and-half.” BSNL also announced that it intends to roll out the services throughout Tamil Nadu, gradually. The next city would be Coimbatore.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has already launches its 3G Mobile Service about 240 cities in various telecom circles across India.

Thanks Sanjay for the piece of info shared. I wonder why is Bangalore on “neglected list”. Although my cell phone (SE P1i) is able to detect and catch BSNL 3G from a few days, there are no signs or info about launching 3G in Bangalore.
The BSNL Service Center representatives (Jayanagar, Bangalore) are so hostile and arrogant to share any kind of info. They are doing as if someone is going to rip them off if they shared any info.

BSNL Chennai Telephones past few years have totally outsmarted their rival counter parts i.e. Calcutta Telephones in their overall services and everything..Last time BSNL Calcutta Telephones has won a best circle award was way back in 2003 or 2004 if am not mistaken..Good going Chennai Telephones!!
BSNL on Saturday launched its 3G mobile telephony here today enabling the people to avail video, voice and web access at a great speed.
Launching the service R Sanyal, Chief General Manager of BSNL NE-II telecom circle, told reporters that the 3G service would be extended to some other district towns including Pasighat within a few months.
Replying to a question, Sanyal expressed hope that prepaid mobile service would not be withdrawn from north eastern states as was done in Jammu and Kashmir to contain its misuse by militants there.
He said BSNL was imposing fine on different telecom companies for accepting wrongly filled forms and fake documents from customers. …..
