AIRCEL, India’s 5th largest GSM service provider launched of its 2.5G EDGE enabled GSM Mobile Services in Punjab telecom circle. Aircel has its GSM mobile services in 20 telecom circles and Punjab will be 21st circle on the Company’s Pan India operation.

While Per minute Plan comes at Rs.49 and Rs.123 enabled its subscribers to make local calls as low as 40p/minute.
The company also launched a very user-friendly package at Rs.5 where in the user can avail maximum value for money i.e. talk time for Rs.4.50 and it enable its subscribers to make all local and STD at 50 paisa per minute on the same day. To address the migrants and travelers, there are attractive discounts on roaming to neighboring states like Delhi, UP and HP. Further-more, Aircel offers free calling value on seconds and minutes plan.

There is a trap in this offer. You get this offer only when you are in Aircel’s network. I took this plan recently and travelled from Chandigarh to Kanpur. While I was in Chandigarh (Home Zone) network was always provided by Tata Docomo and my mobile always shows roaming (I was surprised to see why I am on roaming even being in home zone).
While travelling from Chandigarh to Kanpur, network changes from idea to aircel and docomo. so most of the time your mobile will remain in roaming. Even in a city you will sometimes be in roaming and sometimes in home network
Still a good effort both in terms of roaming rates (if aircel network available) and network connectivity (as the network is provided by multiple operators) unlike Reliance GSM which has zero network 95% of the time and they have withdrawn Rs. 1 per 3 min plan. And Airtel, Vodafone etc. so called good operators charge exorbitantly for roaming

In your area most probably Aircel have no network. You are probably using Docomo network. That’s why roaming sign is appearing. Not sure, but may be this is the case of yours.

You seem to have hired tata docomo towers for launching your services but do have your own at better locations with powerful transmissions since docomo too has a lot of network problems.

but in kerala its different… idea is having good gprs speed… i had tested with all connections… now i found that airtel is providing the slowest gprs connection in kerala… its because they r having gprs network in most places and have edge connection only in some areas…. so airtel had lost large number of gprs subscribers during last few months…

Idea’s net speed is very worst, it doesn has stability & ll come down to zero all the time. But Idea’s network coverage is largest among all, even Airtel is lagging in coverage in few villages where we find only Idea’s network.
