Cheap 5G plans for Kerala users

As part of an introductory offer, the telecom operator is offering what it claims to be the most affordable 5G plans in the industry for Kerala users, with prices starting at Rs 299.

The expansion follows the launch of Vi’s 5G network in Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Malappuram. Over the past few months, the company has significantly scaled up its network infrastructure, focusing on densifying coverage and increasing capacity to ensure consistent performance across both urban and rural locations.

Network densification boosts speed and low latency

Vi said it has scaled its network in recent months, as part of its focused strategy to strengthen its services in Kerala. "The company has significantly densified its 5G coverage and capacity across the state to ensure low latency, high-speed connectivity to customers in both urban and rural locations in Kerala. With this expansion, Vi 5G now covers all major towns, commercial hubs, educational clusters, tourism corridors and high-density residential areas in Kerala."

Expansion builds on earlier launches in key cities

With the statewide rollout now complete, Vi 5G covers major towns, commercial centres, educational hubs, tourism corridors and high-density residential areas across Kerala. The service is available in key locations across all districts, including Alappuzha, Kannur, Kalamassery, Kasaragod, Kalpetta, Kochi, Kollam, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Manjeri–Malappuram, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Tirur, Thrissur, Thodupuzha, Thiruvananthapuram and Wayanad.

The company said it will continue to systematically expand and strengthen its 5G network across additional regions of the state in the coming months.

By strategically scaling its network architecture and expanding its footprint, Vi said it is “empowering newly integrated towns and cities with next-generation connectivity, ensuring users can leverage the full potential of 5G. Whether it is ultra-fast downloads, seamless 4K video streaming, or providing the low-latency environment required for lag-free gaming and real-time communication, Vi’s enhanced capacity is engineered to transform daily experiences into uninterrupted high-performance connectivity."

Speaking on the statewide 5G rollout, George Mathew V. Cluster Business Head- Kerala, Vodafone Idea said, “We are happy to announce that Vi 5G is now available in every district in Kerala. In the second half of 2025, we accelerated 5G deployments across the state with advanced, energy-efficient infrastructure and AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) to automatically optimize network performance and deliver high-speed, reliable connectivity. With the enhanced network, we can confidently say that Vi 5G provides a future-ready experience built on high-performance connectivity.”

Vi strengthens 4G network alongside 5G rollout

In parallel with its 5G rollout, Vi said it has been significantly strengthening its 4G network in Kerala to deliver wider coverage, faster data speeds and an improved overall customer experience.

From September 2024 to September 2025, the company said it has "deployed over 3500 new 4G sites across 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz spectrum bands, enhancing both indoor and outdoor network performance throughout the state. Building on this momentum, Vi plans to add more sites in the coming months to further augment network capacity and bandwidth, reinforcing its commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality connectivity across urban and rural markets."

"Vi remains committed to building a future-ready network that meets the evolving digital needs of consumers and businesses," the official release added.
