Finally, after a long wait, we have a rate card for the services of Reliance Jio GigaFiber as the Mukesh Ambani led telecom operator will likely offer broadband, landline and TV service combination for Rs 600 a month. Just like Reliance Jio did it in the case of the 4G network launch, this combination would not only be limited to the abovementioned services but will also include additional facilities. Also, Reliance Jio GigaFiber will offer the customers the option to connect up to 40 devices through its smart home network for Rs 1,000, a person aware of the matter said to Livemint.

Reliance Jio GigaFiber to Charge Rs 4,500 Security Deposit

The new report comes from Mint, which said that Reliance Jio is currently pilot testing its services in Mumbai and Delhi and is shipping 100GB data at the massive speed of 100 Mbps free of cost, however, the subscribers will only have to pay for the security deposit which will incur them Rs 4,500 up front for the router. Currently Reliance Jio has not combined the landline and TV service module with this broadband offering in its pilot testing phase, however, as per the person aforementioned, these services will be added in the next three months. Under anonymity, the person also said that these services would remain free for an entire year after the commercial launch.

The source also added that the landline would offer unlimited calling facility whereas the television channels will use the Internet Protocol Television to stream. The person also said that these offerings would be powered by an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) box router which would have the capability of connecting 40-45 devices like mobile phones, smart TVs, laptops, tablets and other smart devices as well.

Monthly Tariff for Services to Start at Rs 600 Per Month

He also reiterated saying that while the triple combo of TV service with 600 channels, 100 Mbps broadband and unlimited landline would set back the Reliance Jio GigaFiber customers by Rs 600, other additional services would probably increase this cost. Depending on these services, the tariff could go as high as Rs 1,000 he said.

Not only this, but Reliance Jio will also bundle services for storing CCTV surveillance footage and other data on the cloud, making it accessible on various devices. The speed that Reliance Jio will offer will range from anywhere between 100 Mbps to even 1 Gbps.

To recall, in the last annual general meeting of Reliance Industries Limited, Mukesh Ambani had announced the launch of Reliance Jio GigaFiber across 1,100 cities in India. Only a few days back, Reliance Jio announced its quarterly earnings report and also said that GigaFiber would be rolled out in 1,600 cities. There is no doubt that the coming of Reliance Jio into the broadband segment is expected to cause a lot of disruption as the company did back in 2016.
