One of India's youngest GSM Mobile Service operator Uninor has added a total of 1.92 million GSM subscribers which are the highest number of new mobile subscriber additions followed by IDEA Cellular which has added 1.74 million new subscribers in September 2011, data released by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) showed.
COAI today released the GSM subscriber base for September 2011, the new additions continue at a less growth rates compare to all previous months. For the third month in a row, subscriber addition continued to decline. Total 6.5 million new subscribers added in September taking the all-India GSM cellular subscriber base to 618.28 million at the end of September 2011.
Among the leading GSM Mobile Service Operators, Vodafone Essar added 848,204 new customers, boosting its subscriber base 145 million. Bharti Airtel notched up 935,947 new subscribers during the month, taking its total base to 172.8 million.
State run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) manged 450351 new subscribers boosting its subscriber base 91 million while AIRCEL increased its base by over 603260 customers to take its subscriber base to 59.79 million. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) added just 30712 new users during the month, boosting its total base to 5.32 million at the end of Sept, 2011.
