Gionee Marathon M5 Plus and Marathon M5 Enjoy unveiled in China with 5,000 mAh batteries, fingerprint sensors, and USB Type-C ports

Gionee, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has unveiled two new smartphones in its Marathon lineup of Android smartphones. The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus is a large-screen variant of the Gionee Marathon M5, which was announced earlier this year, and is priced at CNY 2,499 (Rs. 25,561) in China. The Gionee Marathon M5 Enjoy is a cut-down variant of the Marathon M5, and is priced cheaply at CNY 1,999 (Rs. 20,447). Both these smartphones come with large batteries, a fingerprint sensor, and USB Type-C port.

The Marathon M5 Plus comes with a 5,020 mAh battery with fast charging capability, and the company claims that it can be charged from nil to 100 percent within two hours. Other features of this metal-clad smartphone include a 6.0-inch 1080p AMOLED display, a 13-megapixel camera with phase-detection autofocus, and 64GB of internal storage space. The Marathon M5 Enjoy on the other hand comes with a smaller 5.5-inch HD IPS LCD display, an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, and 16GB of internal storage space.

Both the devices run Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Amigo UI 3.1, and feature an octa-core processor from MediaTek, 3GB RAM, a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper, a microSD card slot, and dual-SIM card slot with LTE and VoLTE connectivity. Moreover, both these smartphones are built with metal casing and are as slim as other smartphones despite carrying larger batteries inside their shell. While the Marathon M5 is available in gold and white, the Marathon M5 Enjoy is available only in gold colour. How did you like these smartphones?
