Apple is reportedly planning to introduce new models under its iPad Pro range of tablets. The report comes from a Japanese blog - Mac Otakara, which has a fine track record for breaking news stories about Apple. There will be three new iPad Pro 2017 models in different screen sizes - 7.9-inch (mini), 9.7-inch, and 10.1-inch.
The report states that Apple will ship the new iPad Pro range with a variety of new features such as quad microphones. The current iPad Pro comes with dual microphone setup. Thankfully, unlike the iPhone 7, the new range will feature 3.5mm headphone jacks. Like the contemporary 9.7-inch iPad Pro, the upcoming 12.9-inch variant of the iPad Pro will feature True Tone display clubbed with a 12-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera and True Tone flash similar to the current 9.7-inch model.
Apple's smallest upcoming iPad Pro with 7.9-inch (mini) True Tone display will come integrated with a Smart Connector, four speakers, 12-megapixel rear iSight camera with True Tone flash. Another analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities also affirms the report by Mac Otakara, but he expects the display size to be different. According to Kuo, Apple is most likely to opt for a 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and 9.7-inch iPad.
To recap, the current 9.7-inch iPad Pro features comes powered by an A9X processor and M9 motion co-processor. The device sports a 12-megapixel iSight camera with support for 4K video recording, along with an 8-megapixel front camera. It supports connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth. In India, Apple launched the iPad Pro 9.7-inch in three storage variants – 32GB/128GB/256GB. The 32GB (Wi-Fi only) storage variant was unveiled at Rs. 49,900, while the 32GB (Wi-Fi + Cellular) storage variant was launched at Rs. 61,900. The device went on sale in Gold, Silver, Space Grey, and Rose Gold color options.
Going by the reports stated above, Apple seems to be putting the focus on the display size of the 2017 lineup of the iPad Pro. Except for the screen size and battery, the specs and features of these upcoming devices look similar to each other. The company is most likely to unveil the new iPad Pro and other products at its spring 2017 press event.
