TelecomTALK has learnt from exclusive sources that Airtel will be introducing two new 3G data packs in Kerala circle. In addition to this the existing 3G packs will see a heavy reduction in terms of validity. It may be remembered that Airtel uses ICRA to provide 3G to customers in Kerala and the 3G data packs used to cost 40% more during debut.
Airtel New 3G Pack Details

Rs. 348 - 1 GB for 50 days | Rs.248 - 1 GB for 28 days | Cheaper - on par with Airtel 3G Circles though validity lesser by two days |
Rs.348 - 1.4GB for 28 days
Rs.498 - 2 GB for 28 days | At Rs. 449 2.5 GB data in Airtel 3G Circles
Rs.655 - 2.5 GB for 30 days | Expensive by 46% over Airtel 3G Circles (Rs. 449 for 2.5 GB data) |
From the above table it is evident that a customer is made to pay 46% more for a decent data pack offering 2.5 GB data usage. The big question that emerges here is when the cost of 1 GB data pack could be brought down on par with Airtel 3G circles why is a new pack costing whopping 46% more?
In our opinion tariffs must be ideally uniform or at least marginally different. Who is your preferred 3G operator in Kerala and how much do you pay?
