BSNL today announced that customers with Android or iOS smartphones would be able to access the 44 million Wi-Fi hotspots in more than 100 countries including international flights and rail systems with the upgraded version of My BSNL app. Typically accessing Wi-Fi hotspots is very cumbersome and requires the user to remember multiple connection details in a different city, but with WiFi+ service, BSNL is solving those woes and users are required to register just once to a closest participating Wi-Fi hotspot.

The latest version of My BSNL application is already available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. So if you're travelling abroad, just download the application and recharge with the recently launched WiFi+ Pack of Rs 501.

"BSNL is the first among the Indian mobile operators to have taken this big step forward makes it simple to use Wi-Fi data," said R.K.Mittal Director (CM), BSNL.

Last month, BSNL introduced a new tariff plan of Rs 501 and announced the withdrawal of three plans- Rs 999, Rs 1,599 and Rs 1,999. The BSNL WiFi+ pack of Rs 501 offers unlimited data through the Wi-Fi hotspots which are set up across the world for 30 days.

BSNL WiFi+ service is the company's international WiFi service to help the customer travelling to other countries by offering them free internet. Users can check the Wi-Fi hotspot service availability in a country by visiting https://wifilookup.com. And to achieve this, BSNL partnered with local Wi-Fi service providers in several countries.

The state-run telecom operator recently announced its international prepaid roaming service with T-Mobile in the United States. Also, BSNL stated that the Rs 501 WiFi+ plan should be activated within 30 days from the date of purchase, post that, it will not be valid. All the customers can activate this plan through My BSNL application before their departure to another country. And doing so, if they enter any Wi-Fi hotspot zone, their Android/iOS will connect to it automatically.
