With the start of the new financial year, telcos have started offering new tariff plans in the country, which again is to counter Reliance Jio. In the process, Vodafone India has now introduced a new Rs 255 prepaid tariff plan to compete with Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular's Rs 249 plan and Reliance Jio's Rs 198 plan. With the new plan, Vodafone is offering a whopping 2GB of 4G/3G data benefit per day for 28 days, which in turn takes the total data benefit to 56GB for the entire validity period. Also, the plan provides the user unlimited voice calls even on roaming network and 100 SMS per day, which makes it 2800 SMS during the plan's validity period.
And as expected with private telecom operators tariff plans, this plan is launched in only a few circles for now, but the best part is the plan in an open market one in the circles where it is made available. Another thing which is worth noticing is the voice calling limit per day. Yes, Vodafone is limiting the voice calls to 250 minutes per day, 1000 minutes per day and the voice calls should be made to only 300 unique numbers during the validity period. Post 300 unique numbers, voice calls will be charged at the standard rates and also do make a note that this plan is not intended for commercial use.
As mentioned above, Vodafone has launched this plan to compete with the likes of Rs 249 prepaid plan from Airtel and Idea Cellular. Both Airtel and Idea are offering similar benefits of 2GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day with the Rs 249 plan. Also, the price of Vodafone's Rs 255 plan might differ with a circle, meaning in some circles, it might be priced at Rs 249 only, while in some circles, it might be priced over Rs 255.
We're sure that Vodafone will not launch this plan in circles such as Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Bihar & Jharkhand because the telco is yet to provide 4G services in those circles. Vodafone will be launching 4G services in Andhra Pradesh and MPCG circles very soon as we reported a while back, but the service availability is yet to be known. The plan will be launched in all the 4G circles in the coming days as Vodafone follows the same pattern of making a plan available in some circles first, then making it available across all the 4G circles. Sadly, Vodafone did not revise its Rs 349 plan, and it's still providing 2.5GB data benefit per day, unlike Airtel's Rs 349 plan which was recently revised to offer 3GB data benefit per day.
