MTNL Partners With NOKIA and HCL To Boost the 3GIn a bid to Boost the 3G Mobile service, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL), India’s first 3G mobile service operator, today announced its partnership with leading mobile phone giant NOKIA as well as leading Laptop makers HCL Infosystems Ltd.

HCL will offer 3G Wireless Broadband service on HCL’s select range of laptops and ME Net books. With this partnership MTNL 3G Data card, with its prepaid 3G GSM Wireless Broadband connections, would be available through HCL’s distribution channels and in Mumbai and Delhi by mid November.




Mr. R.S.P. Sinha, CMD of MTNL, announced the partnership and saying, “MTNL Offer effectively brings 3G mobile and broadband services at more affordable prices than even 2G GSM mobile services. Further, MTNL is also committed to strengthen the 3G ecosystem through customer education and industry partnerships. This will help in bringing down the entry barrier for 3G Mobile devices and increase 3G usage.”

Mr. J V Ramamurthy, Chief Operating Officer, HCL Infosystems Ltd stated that “HCL’s 3G enabled ME netbook comes with an embedded 3G Module and a SIM card slot. With MTNL launching 3G device partnerships and attractive plans today, it is indeed an excellent platform for us to launch this netbook.” The 3G enabled HCL netbooks will be available in the market from mid November onwards.

MTNL’s 3.5G wireless Broandband solution includes an embedded 3G module (Data Card) as well as inbuilt SIM card slot on HCL’s select range of ME netbooks, plus MTNL 3G SIM Kit and attractive 3G Data package with National Roaming facility from MTNL.

Nokia makes a wide range of devices for all major customer segments and offer Internet services that enable people to experience music, maps, media, messaging and games.

According to V.Ramnath,Head Operator Channel Nokia India, “Nokia is committed to drive the benefits of true mobility to the next billion and is delighted to partner with MTNL in its special 3G offers to customers across select Nokia devices to enhance customer experience.”

MTNL-Micromax 3G handset at Rs 5499 was also demonstrated. Mr. Rajesh Agrawal of Micromax, said, “Delivering best of the technology and path breaking innovation has always been our priority. We work towards bringing exclusive technology in the hands of the masses. A 3G Mobile is still considered an expensive piece of technology, but Mocromax H360 is here to break all the rules. The journey of 3G in India has just begun and there is a need for mass awareness of 3G. We are thankful to MTNL for having worked with us to enable us to bring forth a revolutionary product for the Indian 3G subscribers. We are confident that this handset will redefine the 3G experience in India and with increasing awareness and availability, 3G mobiles will gain mass popularity.”

MTNL also that Bundled 3G Jadoo SIM shall be available with handsets of Nokia, HTC and Micromax makes. The operator also announced its 3G special offers of Festive season for Delhi circle with lowest Local-STD Voice and Video calls.
