India’s 3rd largest GSM Mobile Service operator IDEA Cellular today officially flaged off its 3G Mobile and Data services in 3 telecom Circles MP & Chhattisgarh (Indore), Gujarat (Ahmedabad) and Himachal Pradesh (Shimla and Baddi).
Idea Cellular has also announced the detail tariff for its 3G data and Value added services and introduces various 3G Data Plans with categories like Sachet, Time Based, and USB Dongle Plan.
To activate the 3G service, IDEA Mobile subscribers need to send SMS ACT3G to 12345 (toll free) or by dialing *147# (toll free) after sending the SMS the confirmation SMS will come and 2G Data Plan will be de-activated after the confirmation by subscriber 3G Data Plan “Pay As You Go” will be activated.
For Device configuration, No additional settings are required for mobile Internet settings (2G & 3G), SMS SET to 12345 (toll free) and save the settings received OR call customer care on 12345. There are no separate APNs for 3G. Video Calling is automatically activated.
For convenience of prospective 3G Mobile and High Speed Data service users, there is no changes for Voice and SMS tariff and it will be charged as IDEA 2G GSM Plan and customer can clubbed any 3G data plans specially tailored for all segments as their needs and suitability.The 3G local, STD and Roaming Video Call cost will be 5 paisa/sec (Rs.3/minute).
The Idea Cellular 3G Roaming service for any Idea 3G customers will work across the country (idea 3G and non idea 3G circles), except in Orissa circles.
Note : Postpaid and Prepaid Recharge Vale/Rent may differ (+/- Rs.5) in some circles.

Dear Idea cellular,
Please don’t just regret for the inconvenience caused to your customers, I think idea charges for data on Roaming, so be frank and tell the customers that idea network charges for data roaming in other circles.
If possible work towards it, so that the benefits is received by the customers on roaming and data is counted from data pack.

Idea 3g netsetter has ok service but if you are using it on mobile its very worst like gprs only,i complained about it on customer care of idea they said delete previous setting and again install new setting but nothing change after doing it.Bsnl 3g far better than idea.

Sirs – This TT is a blog and the comments/complaints/suggestions- one way or other when addressed by the concerned will be helpful others who read them. IF u hijack the problem and whether solved or not, others on TT will be in dark. In my view at least generic answer is expected rather than a “Call-center-ic” reply with Ref. No. is unwarranted.

It is horrible network. If you take prepaid 3g bundled plan. The speed will be so slow, that the data will not be used even 50% in prescribed time limit. And if your time limit expires, the speed will increase and your balance will be consumes by Rs.300 to Rs.400 per hour. As the rate is so high. I took 1GB data plan with validity of 30 days. In 30 days, only .5GB was used and when I used after 30 days, in one hour, 8mb data and Rs 160 was deducted by Idea network. And when I asked they tell me simple mathmatics @2ps/Kb for 8mb is Rs.160.

Hi ,
I am in roaming and I have recharge of 148 plan for unlimited access of internet after calling from IDEA customer care and he suggest me recharge with 148 for Internet pack.
When I access internet approx 2 hours, my all balance(approx 330 + 148) was lost. I am very frustrate.
When i call IDEA Customer care , then he said me your mobile number is not in Delhi Region while my number belongs from Delhi Region and after that he disconnect my call.
Really very very very bad service. Sure I will quit service from this company when i back to Delhi.

Calling calling customer care., is worst experience.
The agents are worth less, they cant even speak basic english or anyother language.
they will keep on hold for 4-6 minutes and say that they are checking blah blah…
After speaking few min, call got disconnected trice.. and i could not afford to call from my land line. So i had to call from a office phone.
The complaint numbers are below..

the floor manager cant even give better option then throwing the IDEA Sim card ..
very bad experience from Idea..

In HYD , I recharged with Rs:250 ( 3G , 1 GB Free). and i hardly used and i had to travel to Bangalore.
Now i cant use Idea 3G net in bangalore. ( charges are horrible)
Now i still have 98% 3G balance( 1000 MB ) which is unused , now i am at loss of Rs:250

I thought Idea 3G would be a better one, thought they might provide us with flexible plans, contrary to our expectation they published a plan which is not feasible for a general user like me, they must learn from other service providers, how they are getting customers by offering them flexible plans. And also coverage during the daytime is very bad.

Please don’t use any service of idea, this company is cheater and harass customer when you complain against any unauthorized deduction, which happen frequently. Their GPRS and 3G services are very poor. Be aware of this company, they can deduct you balance any time.

but bsnl have their own isp and bsnl are indian backbone internet.. thats y they are gaving less rates in 3g and they are not even spectrum fees is paid.. if they paid also that money is getting back .. and they are getting overall india have spectrum… and they have government not private companies… like airtel.. airtel every time they are eating.. vodafone.. wrong calls when u call to vodafone and docomo.. bsnl network gone bad in bengaluru… call drop.. voice braking.. idea has a good impact in karnataka.. reliance, tatadocomo, uninor, aircel are only network in cities no network in rurals.. cheers, videocon, today also they are not enter to market.. we are not getting signals.. if we enquired dont know about that alss

Who critisize bsnl for its poor costumer care need a look to the indias emerging company none other then aircel.Whose customer care is pathetic in terms to problem solving,i have resistered my complained 8 times,they tell the conformation no. but never send by sms and say that they have already,and after 3 or 4days when i call back for my problem enquiry and ask to check no they said the no is incorrect.and last time they crack the master joke that,iam called them first time but i regularly call them in 7 months.and also they have their funny costumer officers.first they ask your name and after that they take your name and ask your name.like amitabh in sholay to basati.basanti tumhara naam kya hai.actually i comlained for in my city internet on aircel didn’t work no E or G sign display.

In speedtests = yes, you fill find 10.2Mbps HSDPA fast in comparison with 7.2Mbps dongle, but based on current high rates of 3G, it hardly matters!
In real, 10.2Mbps, will give you a real world peak of somewhere like 2.5-3Mbps, while datacard will give somewhere close to 2Mbps.
I would say speed is insignificant because:
1.Soon 5Mhz spectrum will be choked and you will find all networks to be slow. Somewhere close to 1Mbps.
2.Rates are way to expensive, so you won’t really download any data. 2Mbps or 3Mbps ….doesn’t matters unless you download lot of data.
My advise = use cell phone via datacable, and if wire is hastle, use bluetooth (slow, but again doesn’t matters). I won’t recommend investing anything over 2kRs in a 3G based datacard, when BSNL is about to get aggressive with WiMax, followed by launch of Reliance Infotel (over TD-LTE) in a couple of months.

Why should any one opt for these plans where we will get Greate coverage and very reasonable pricing in BSNL(2p/10KB). Only problem i feel in BSNL is customer care… But BSNL has all india 3G coverage(no roaming issues), even in tier2 and tier3 towns it has 3g coverage…

Rates are too high compared to BSNL. BSNL gives 0.5 GB monthly for Rs. 275. Extra usage charge of BSNL is 2 paise/10 KB whereas IDEA rate ranging from 5 paise to 10 paise for 10 Kb. 1 KB is equivalent to 8 kb. Thus IDEA Charges forty times higher comparing to BSNL.

Time based plan in actually good, because while using opera mobile for browsing the connection is on till the website is loading as soon as page is loaded it goes offline.
On 3G it takes just 2 seconds to load a page, I have used it on BSNL 3G.

There is some mistake in the dongle tariff. For Rs.599/- its telling 10 GB but for Rs.1275/- its 5 GB. I think for Rs.599/- its should be 1 GB. please correct it.

WOW!!! time based offers are really good, though its costly but one can use data without thinking abt consumption. it is also true tat we cannot expect cheaper 3G tariffs!!

AIRCEL 3G unlimited on Dongle @ 1275. While Idea only is giving 5Gb. Lets assume if Aircel 15Gb it would be Great.

i am getting signals of all four players here in vadodara.
but docomo & bsnl are working and voda & idea is still not accessible.

I think the Pvt Operators are gonna suck customers with such costly services, BSNL and MTNL with such cheap rates shud have benefitted from this with MNP in place, but due to their poor Customer Services and bad Networks and outage and downtime and connectivity, they are loosing the mximum customers, Wake UP BSNL and MTNL, pvt operators are making life easy for u, get up and get good services

Their is a typing mistake in Dongle Tariff. I think that was 1GB instead of 10GB.

Their 3G service costs 10p per 10kb while others are charging 30p for 20kb.
