Vodafone Idea (Vi) is showcasing a suite of solutions aimed at transforming industries and enhancing everyday experiences through 5G and IoT (Internet of Things) technology on the opening day of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024. Vi said this year's IMC theme, "The Future is Now," resonates with its commitment to delivering immediate, technology-driven solutions. The company's presentation, "Future is Live," emphasises how these innovations are reshaping the ways people and businesses connect, work, and live.

Ready for Next Program

A key highlight is the 'Ready for Next' program, launched in 2022, which provides free Digital Advisory Services to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This initiative has partnered with 1.6 lakh MSMEs across 16 sectors, addressing the digital divide and offering insights through the Digital Maturity Index from its 2024 Growth Insights Study, Vi said.

Clinic in a Bag

Vi is also showcasing its "Clinic in a Bag" solution, which allows doctors to assess and evaluate patients in real-time, regardless of location. This addresses the shortage of specialist manpower and equipment in remote areas.

Vi demonstrated this solution with live feeds from a health camp in a village in Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. Real-time diagnostic reports are transmitted over its high-speed network to doctors located anywhere in the world, enabling informed consultations via video calls.

According to Vi, the solution is capable of performing over 30 Point of Care medical tests—including vitals, cardiac and pulmonary function, blood tests, and screenings—offering a cost-effective alternative. These tests are delivered for under Rs 250, benefiting millions in rural India who face challenges in accessing primary healthcare centers.

Akshaya Moondra, CEO of Vi, said, "Our solutions being showcased at the IMC are designed to make a real-world impact and reflect our commitment to bring the future to life right now by creating a more connected, efficient world for all."

360-degree immersive dome

Attendees can experience a 360-degree immersive dome that transports them to the ancient underwater city of Dwarka. Additionally, a live performance features band members performing in sync, with some musicians connected remotely over Vi’s low-latency network.

LIVE eSports tournament

The company said it is also hosting a live eSports tournament, allowing gamers to compete against themselves as well as with some of India's biggest gaming influencers (including Live Insaan, Rachitroo and the likes)

Smart Mines and AI Integration

In the realm of Industry 4.0, Vi is presenting solutions that integrate 5G, IoT, AI, and Machine Learning, demonstrated through a simulated Smart Mine with real-time monitoring capabilities.
