Videocon Telecom is in process of launching 4G service in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar telecom circles. The company plans to start 4G service in next 6-8 months time.
Videocon has already announced its plans to invest Rs 1,200 crore over three years on high-speed 4G LTE service. The company currently have 1800Mhz spectrum in Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh/Chattisgarh, Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West) and Bihar. Videocon will use its entire spectrum in 1800 Mhz band that it won in November 2012 auction for the 4G service and has plan to deploy Voice over LTE (VoLTE) technology to support voice calls.
“Our infrastructure is ready to roll out the services in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh comprises circles like UP (East) and UP (West). However, handsets which support this band, or any LTE band for that matter, are expensive currently and also not widely available. So we are waiting for the right kind of ecosystem to roll out the services", said Arvind Bali, Director & CEO, Videocon Telecom reports Business standard.
Videocon has selected Huawei and Nokia Networks as its technology partner to deploy 4G service in 29 cities across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. It has also announced that it will offer 4G mobile broadband at par with 2G and 3G rates in these 29 cities.
