Reliance Communications (RCom) has come up with a new plan for its prepaid subscribers. On the occasion of the 71st Independence Day, the Anil Ambani-led operator announced a new tariff plan of Rs. 70, which offers mobile data for one year. Yes, you heard it right, a Rs. 70 plan gives mobile internet for 365 days.

RCom's new offer is called as 'Data Ki Azadi,' which would be available only for a limited time from August 14 to August 16. The plan gives unlimited 2G data for one year. RCom GSM SIM card users will get 1GB data per day for one year, while RCom LTE SIM card users will also get the same 1GB 2G data per day for one year.

Furthermore, the plan also offers talk time of Rs. 56, which is a decent addition. This new plan is valid on a pan-India basis. However, this plan is a disappointment because it gives 2G data, and most of the people in India are addicted towards LTE network, which offers 400 times better speeds than the 2G network.

RCom has been launching new plans in recent times. The operator recently announced a Rs. 299 plan for prepaid customers, which gives unlimited calls, unlimited data, and unlimited SMS for 28 days. However, the FUP details of this plan are not yet made available.

The struggling telecom operator also has another 2G data plan of Rs. 365, which provides 1GB 2G data per day for 365 days. These plans from RCom are extremely luring, but the only let down is the 2G data offer.

Besides the tariff plans section, RCom is now seeking approvals from all the regulators for the proposed merger with Aircel. The latter recently said that they're running out of time to get the merger approvals, and is also planning for a new business model if the merger doesn't work out successfully.
