NL-ix Deploys AI-Driven Anti-DDoS Solution for Enterprises Across Europe
The internet exchange NL-ix today announced that it has deployed Nokia Deepfield Defender across its network to protect against DDoS attacks. The rollout of the technology, which the companies claim is the largest anti-DDoS solution for an internet exchange point (IXP) environment, has been completed across Europe. The AI-driven platform, deployed across NL-ix’s network, provides rapid detection and mitigation of DDoS attacks directly on Nokia FP5-based routers, enhancing security without affecting customer traffic.

Nokia Deepfield Defender Rollout

The solution ensures advanced DDoS security to stay ahead of the latest generation of threats, scaling protection, and adding security-enhanced service offerings to enterprises, especially those operating in critical industry segments, Nokia said noting that the model can be replicated in the future.

NL-ix said: "This is a significant win as it’s not only the first security-enhanced service offering but also the first anti-DDoS solution deployed by an IXP, demonstrating our place as a key innovator in Europe. Our DDoS protection aims for zero downtime for enterprises, providing security across their entire area of operations."

Local Mitigation Reduces Latency and Costs

"Our solution performs mitigation directly on Nokia routers instead of using a remote, dedicated scrubbing center, which maintains low latency and keeps transport costs down. As a result, we can act as a 'one-stop-shop' for Europe-wide connectivity and security, where our customers don't need to work with multiple parties or have complex arrangements to be protected by a third party," NL-ix added.

This deployment is the first Internet Exchange Point (IXP) in Europe to adopt the security system, according to the official release.
