Domestic handset maker Lava on Thursday launched Lava A7 Wave feature phone in India for Rs 1,799. The dual tone finish device has a 2.4-inch display, polycarbonate body and is powered by a 1750mAh Li-ion battery that the company claims lasts for six days on a single charge. The memory can be expanded up to 32GB. "Feature phone is seen as a commodity by marketers. The innovation of dual colour... we are happy that this innovation in feature phones has come from Lava's R&D division," Tejinder Singh, Head of Product-Feature Phones, Lava International Limited, said in a statement.
The budget device supports 22 languages including English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada.
The Lava A7 Wave currently comes with a one-year replacement guarantee along with six months replacement offer (on accessories).
In India, feature phones still contribute a significant market share to the companies. Reliance Jio, which launched the JioPhone a couple of years ago is now the leading feature phone brand in the country. While Reliance Retail and Samsung occupy the top two spots in the Indian feature phone market, Lava is third on the list as the company consistently launches new feature phones every now and then.
