At the inauguration ceremony of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there's a need for global standards in ethical AI (artificial intelligence) and data privacy. He said that just like the global standard for aviation frequencies, there's a need for global standards in ethical AI and data privacy. PM Modi not only inaugurated IMC 2024, but also the ITU-WTSA which is happening for the first time in India. The Day 1 of the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 concluded with some major announcements from HFCL, Reliance Jio and more. Mats Granryd, Director General of the GSMA, said, "India is doing absolutely phenomenon and the rollout of 5G is literally unmatched with India leading in 5G downloads. Regarding AI, We need to respect the complexity of AI. We see bright future in AI, but we need to respect the complex nature of AI, we need to follow the ethics etc. Spectrum is lifeline and blood of operators, aligning on spectrum is crucial to achieve our connectivity targets. We need to help the government to have a roadmap and timeline to align 6 GHz, if they missed it and leave no one behind."

Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio urged the prime minister that AI should be embraced by India and that the data of Indians should be withing the boundaries of the country. For this, he requested that the government give incentives so that more data centers could be built in India.
