The telecom sector in India is currently undergoing a rebuilding phase, all thanks to Reliance Jio and its free services. After Vodafone launching their hourly SuperNet packs for both data and voice calls, now it’s time for Idea Cellular, India’s third-largest telecom operator to launch the same schemes of offering unlimited data for users at just a mere price tag.
According to a reader of Telecomtalk, Idea has apparently sent out an SMS regarding their hourly data pack and the image clearly shows that the pack costs Rs. 22 for an hour of unlimited 3G/4G data, much like what Vodafone is offering with SuperHour packs.
As of now, there is no information from the company officially, but a Twitter user posted an image of Idea’s website displaying the offers. The interesting thing about the Twitter picture is that the pricing of this pack, which shows as Rs. 14 for an hour of free 3G/4G data. Also, the image has a USSD code along with the service roll out date.
According to that image, the services should go live by January 19, and we tried to activate the pack via the provided USSD code in the same picture itself, but the code just did not work yet.

Having said that, the message which was received by our reader also has a USSD code, and that code did not work either for us. So, it’s pretty evident that the services are not live yet and Idea may roll out them in coming days.
These hourly packs trend was first started by Vodafone India with their SuperHour offerings, and the packs were well received by the audience. Following the footprints of Vodafone, Idea now wants to implement the same packs with similar pricing as well.
Also, we might see Airtel coming up with the same sort of hourly packs in the near future, but these are just our assumptions. Will you recharge with the Idea’s hourly pack when they go official? Let us know in the comments section below.
