Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), the world's 7th largest telecom operator is geared up to provide 3G to all. According to the BSNL that the company is all set to lower its tariffs for the 3G Mobile services and to be made more affordable from August 15, 2009. BSNL said that 3G service is not just for elite class, but also for the General public of India.
The new BSNL 3G Mobile Connection will available as low as Rs.59. The 3G Prepaid Recharge Vouchers for the next generation mobile services will be available for Rs.120 and postpaid 3G for Rs.225. BSNL will offer migration from 2G Mobile service to 3G free of cost from 15 August 2009.
As part of Independence Day celebrations, Free Unlimited Calls will be offered to the BSNL 3G Mobile subscribers for one month from the date of activation. The new scheme will be available till August 31, 2009.
BSNL said in a statement that "BSNL 3G services" is not merely a service targeted towards the elite class, but for the General public as well as it helps improve the voice quality as well as reducing congestion in existing GSM network.
The state run operator said that since its launch on February 27, 2009 just in 12 cities, the services now encompass over 113 cities. The company also said that the figure of 10,733 subscribers was only till end of June 2009 and the latest figures show about 40,000 mobile subscribers for its 3G Mobile services till the date.
BSNL said that from the four services available during the initial phase of the launch namely video calling, video conferencing, mobile TV and mobile broadband, the additional services offered now include Video on demand, video screening, full track music download and online multiple player games.
