AIRTEL WILL SETUP OFC NETWORK IN BHUTAN

BHARTI AIRTEL WILL EXPAND OFC NETWORK TO BHUTANIndia’s leading telecom service provider Bharti Airtel today announced  that company has signed an MoU with Royal Government of Bhutan to set up terrestrial OFC network in Bhutan. The new OFC Project will help the IT and IT-enabled services sector of that country. The telecom major Bharti Airtel said in a statement that with this agreement the company  will build and set up OFC infrastructure in Bhutan.

We are deeply honored to have the opportunity to partner with the Royal Government of Bhutan to help build a world class ICT (information and communication technology) infrastructure in Bhutan, said Manoj Kohli, chief executive and joint managing director of Bharti Airtel.




The initiative to create the terrestrial cable network in Bhutan will boost IT and telecommunication infrastructure in the Himalayan kingdom.

The Royal Government of Bhutan has identified Information and Communications Technology as a priority sector for creating an Information Society, providing Government services to citizens and businesses through the deployment of e-Government solutions and further the growth of the IT or ITES industry & Data Centre market in Bhutan.

Bhutan is a favourite destination of global organizations for setting up back office and data centre businesses.
