According to the company Unitech Wireless, with licences to operate in all 22 circles across India, is launching state-of-the-art telecommunication services to provide advanced wireless voice, data and ILD/, NLD services. Unitech Wireless proposes to succeed in this highly attractive and fast growing telecom market, with a strong differentiator in customer experience and service delivery. To achieve its ambitious goals, Unitech Wireless has structured its organization and operational architecture around innovation, scalability and flexibility. Its partnership with Wipro will enable this uniqueness and provide non-linear, scaleable growth, while delivering the highest levels of customer service to their subscribers.

The company has awarded a telecom infrastructure project worth $400 million to Huawei and Alcatel-Lucent.  Sources said the company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the two infrastructure providers for design, installation and management of its GSM network. Of the total deal size of $400 million, about $225 million has gone to Huawei, and the rest to Alcatel Lucent. Four telecom infrastructure firms, including Ericsson and ZTE, were in the race for the project.

Sources said the company would fund the deal with the money received from its stake sale to Norway-based Telenor and the debt it would raise for the expansion and operations. Telenor last year said it would invest $1.2 billion in phases to buy 67.25% stake in the telecom unit.

Unitech had received licence last year to operate in 22 telecom circles and paid Rs 1,651 crore as licence fee to the government. The company recently awarded a nine-year Rs 2,500 crore IT outsourcing deal to Wipro Infotech. Under the contract, Wipro would deploy a component-based service delivery platform for Unitech to deliver services including multi-channel access, real time information delivery, multimedia content and other value-added services.
