After the Pay Per Second and new Roaming tariff now the focus of Indian mobile price war completely shifted to the SMS tariff.Reliance Mobile which is first operator to roll out lowest Local and National Roaming and SMS tariff, once again targeted its rival on Over charging for SMS while festive season.
Reliance Mobile the GSM and CDMA mobile service brand of Reliance Communications today initiated another radical move to lure its mobile service users by reminding NO BLACK OUT DAYS for SMS service. According to the Reliance Mobile, Its CDMA and GSM mobile subscribers across India can able to send SMSes while festive season as normal changes and save more and more on SMS in compare to Airtel,Vodafone,Idea Cellular, Tata Docomo and most of all mobile service operators.
As most of GSM and CDMA mobile service consumers are well aware of, one of the bitter facts is that the festive days do not carry the low tariffs offered by most operators except MTNL. On days like Diwali, Holi, Christmas and New Years, the SMS tariffs jump up to Re. 1 or Rs. 1.50 for every SMS (Local & STD/Roaming); increasing the SMS tariffs only one these select days, operators increase revenues considerably. By hiking the SMS charges on days when the number of SMSes sent by each individual increases by almost 300%, operators invariably make up for the dipped revenues incurred by offering the great-value packs. These are days when even the individual who does not use SMS as a preferred mode of communication, will send at least 200 SMSes to friends and family while in the festive mood. Therefore, to save on the mounting costs, users often send greeting SMSes a day in advance!
When Simply Reliance was recently launched, their plans and offerings were plain and simple. No conditions, no clauses. Even now, Reliance subscribers will be the only ones who can send SMSes at the same tariff that they have opted for. Even the new SMS packs launched by Reliance that allows All India SMS @1 paisa and virtually unlimited free SMSes per day at a daily rental of Re. 1 will be maintaining the same tariffs even on festive days unlike subscribers of other leading operators such as Airtel, Vodafone or DoCoMo.These will be the only subscribers having 10 to 15 times lesser SMS spends as compared to similar usage by subscribers of other operators.
