As we reported earlier, Xiaomi plans to enter India this year along with 9 other countries. At a press conference earlier today, Xiaomi's founder and CEO, Lei Jun mentioned that the company will be expanding from smartphones, televisions and routers to even more categories of consumer electronics as well as expanding their operations in other countries including India, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Mexico, some Latin-American countries.

Xiaomi's President and co-founder Bin Lin stated “You can certainly call this an acceleration... It’s our mission and our belief that this model should be able to achieve some level of success outside of China.” Xiaomi is popular for their great value for money devices that it sells online directly to consumers, there by cutting down the costs of middlemen. Xiaomi recorded $240 million worth of sales in a single day of web sale in China on April 8 which is known as the Black Friday of China. The company's website is China's 3rd largest e-commerce according to them. They plan to ship 100 million devices in 2015 alone.

If it enters India, it will give a tough competition to all the smartphone brands, be it India, Chinese or international. Gionee, yet another Chinese smartphone brand entered India in 2012 and has been doing great since then, showing impressive growth in just 2 years after starting its operation in the country. Oppo, another smartphone brand from China has entered India but is having hard time cracking the market.
