The entire bezel-less smartphone trend is because of Chinese brand Xiaomi and its Mi Mix smartphone released at the end of 2017. Xiaomi Mi Mix turned the entire smartphone industry to go after 18:9 displays. Back then, the Mi Mix was a concept phone, but with the Mi Mix 2, the company has made it available for masses.
Xiaomi might have started working on its third generation Mi Mix 3, but before that, we might get another variant of the Mi Mix 2 with an iPhone X-like notch on the top of the display. The smartphone in the above image is said to be Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s, and it has the weird looking notch. Already, the iPhone X's notch is being criticized by many people out there.
That being said, at the launch event of Mi Mix 2 in India a month ago, Xiaomi Product Lead, Jai Mani said that the company indeed tested out notch on the Mix series, but later on scrapped the plan and has gone with chin at the bottom which also has the front-facing camera.
This image of the alleged Mi Mix 2s is posted on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, and by taking a close look at the image, you can spot the front-facing camera inside the notch. So, there's a possibility that Xiaomi will include the proximity sensor, earpiece, and front-facing camera in the notch itself like how Apple did with the iPhone X.
There were some rumours earlier this year as well on Xiaomi launching a smaller version of the original Mi Mix, but eventually, that didn't happen. So, take this new Mi Mix 2s leak with a grain of salt and there's no confirmation from Xiaomi as of now on the Mi Mix 2s.
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is one of the affordable bezel-less smartphones to purchase in China and India right now. In India, the Mi Mix 2 is retailing for Rs. 35,999, and it offers a gorgeous 5.99-inch Full HD+ display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, 12MP rear camera, and a 3400mAh battery. Xiaomi is selling the smartphone on a flash sale model in India.
