It has been more than a year since Xiaomi launched the first Note device in the Redmi lineup. The Xiaomi Redmi Note was announced in March 2014, while its 4G variant was announced in August last year. Now, the company's CEO Lei Jun has revealed some information regarding the announcement date for the next device from the company.
According to the information revealed on the social networking site Weibo, the company plans to announce a new Note device on June 29. If we guess it properly, the device would not be one of the successors to the Mi Note or the Mi Note Pro as both of them were released just earlier this year, and it has not been a year since their announcement. We believe that the company will launch the Redmi Note 2 that was leaked through TENAA certification recently.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, the successor to the Redmi Note, is believed to feature a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6795 processing chipset, 2GB RAM, 8/16GB storage, a 13-megapixel primary camera with 1080p video recording, and a 5-megapixel secondary camera. The software on the device will most probably the MIUI 6 based on Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is not clear whether it will feature 4G LTE connectivity or a dual-SIM card slot.
