Just a day after Idea Cellular announced that its 4G services will be live shortly and started pre-registrations for the next generation technology; Telecom Talk has learnt that Vodafone is all set to launch its 4G services in Cochin on December 8.
Sources told TT that the Cochin launch will be followed by Mysore launch on December 21. Earlier, Vodafone had maintained that it would launch 4G services in Kerala beginning December 2015.
Country’s top operator Bharti Airtel has already launched its 4G LTE mobile services in 300 towns across the country. Idea Cellular has entered into a Rs 3,310-crore deal with Videocon Telecom, which will give a push to Idea Cellular’s 4G plans. With this arrangement, Idea’s 4G (LTE) spectrum footprint will expand to 12 service areas covering over 75% of Idea’s current revenue and over 72% of existing 170 million quality subscribers on VLR. At the same time, Reliance Jio is preparing to launch its 4G services next year.

With all these developments, one thing is loud and clear that the fight in the 4G space is heating up and in the near future, the fight is just going to be too aggressive.
