SK Telecom to Monitor Fibre Network Status With AI

SK Telecom (SKT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nokia to demonstrate and commercialise "fiber sensing," an AI technology for fixed-line networks that monitors the environment around optical cables. American telecommunications company Verizon has announced the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies to protect its fiber infrastructure and prevent damage.
