Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), the state-run Indian telecom operator, has added 350 new 4G sites in the state of Rajasthan. The state-run telco has a total of 2767 4G sites now in the state. These are sites which are on-air. BSNL has confirmed that in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, there are 67 4G sites on air. BSNL has so far deployed more than 75000 4G sites throughout India. The goal for the telco is to reach the figure of 1 lakh 4G sites as early as possible. As per the previous statements from the government, this would happen by May to June 2025. After that, BSNL will launch 5G in the country. The telco is already testing 5G with multiple vendors using homegrown tech in Delhi.

BSNL to Deploy Additional Sites after 1 Lakh
BSNL will deploy more sites after reaching its first milestone of 1 lakh sites. The telco in a recent Q&A said that it will have to assess how to proceed with this. There will be more sites, definitely, but how many, that no one knows? BSNL has the cheapest 4G prepaid plans in the country at the moment.

BSNL needs to deploy 4G sites fast in order to retain the recently added customers. After the private telecom operators implemented tariff hikes, BSNL was the lone operator to add new users for several months. Since then, the private telcos have started adding new customers, which will directly impact BSNL's capability to add new users in the near future.
BSNL's 1 lakh sites will be a huge milestone for the company and it will be interesting to see if that has an impact on the mobile service quality that customers are getting. Very soon, BSNL is also expected to launch eSIM services for customers.
