Aircel become the 6th GSM operator to fight for market share in the Maharashtra and Goa telecom circle. Aircel has added Maharashtra as its 18th circle on the Company’s Pan India operation.

Aircel entry promises to create some excitement for customers with attractive tariff plans that will be valid for a year and a claim to be a superior network. With new entrants pouring into the market.Aircel launched specially tailored tariff plan for Maharashtra with lowest local call charges as 30 paisa.

The company launches Lifetime Prepaid Plan for mobile customers that are expected to set off a new tariff war, as the plan boasts of call rates as low as 30 paisa a minute.The LifeTime Validity prepaid plan available for Rs 99 with Starter Kit would allow users to make local calls at Rs.1 for the first minute, 50 paise for the second minute and 30 paisa for the third minute onwards every day.With this plan STD call at Rs.1.50 for first min.,Rs.1 for the second min and 75 paise for the third minute onwards every day.Local SMS cost is Rs.1

Currently the company offers pre-paid connections for Rs 99 with lifetime validity and Post-paid connections will be started soon. Apart, Company launches SMS pack at Rs.50 with 500 Free Local/National SMS and At Rs.75 Free SMS 1500 will be given. Aircel also launches Fun-Do-Pack with cheapest group calling and SMS charges.

Aircel will launches pocket Internet cards very soon in two variants, one cost Rs 98 which has unlimited Internet browsing and music shuffle per month with 10 wall papers, five games and three downloadable features. The other is a sachet pack worth Rs 14 with Unlimited browsing for 3 days and other features

Aircel will also launch localized value-added services (VAS) as well as a WAP portal in Hindi. Gurdeep Singh, chief operating officer, Aircel said: “We will introduce product and services that are uniquely tailored for the special needs of Maharashtra customers.”

Singh pointed that customers in Maharashtra are unique compared to other circles, which high level of education, demands and understanding. About company’s strategy he added, “Aircel is focusing on four segments – students, migrants, business and elderly people as their potential subscribers. The strategy is looking at different segments and their needs and as per the customers’ need provide VAS and other services. We want to be dominant player of future as we entered the Maharashtra and Goa circle behind other companies; we are highly focusing on VAS and customer services.”
