Uninor GSM Rollout By ZTE

ZTE Corporation, a global provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions, has signed a five-year GSM network infrastructure agreement with Unitech Wireless under the agreement, ZTE will provide GSM systems and core network equipment cross Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana circles.

Unitech Wireless, a joint venture between Norway’s Telenor Group and Unitech Group of India, holds license to provide mobile phone services across all 22-telecom circles in India. The company is planning to roll-out services in select circles by the end of 2009 under the brand name, Uninor with this contract, ZTE has added a significant win to the growing list of telecom service providers deploying its GSM solutions in India, ZTE said in a statement.




“We’re glad to be selected by Unitech Wireless to establish and manage its GSM infrastructure in India,” said D K Ghosh, Chairman & Managing Director, ZTE Telecom India Pvt Ltd.

“This agreement not only marks our GSM network contract from a global telecom operator, but also provides us with an opportunity to establish and manage GSM networks in metros and large cities. We are confident that opportunities like these will serve to further accelerate our growth momentum and expand our business footprint in the fastest growing telecom market in the world,” he added.

ZTE’s GSM equipment is now deployed by over 60 operators in over 50 countries worldwide, resulting in the installation of mobile capacity exceeding 200 million lines. In India, ZTE had earlier won infrastructure and network equipment contracts from several operators.
