MTNL planning to offer VRS worth Rs 1000 crore to 5000 employees

State-run telecom operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) is planning to offer voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) worth Rs 1000 crore to its employees in India in order to cut down high staff cost, according to a report by Infracircle. Telecom Commission gives nod to VRS for MTNL employees

Telecom Commission on Saturday has given its nod to a proposal to provide voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) to employees at state-run telecom telco, MTNL. The move is aimed at reviving the loss making telco which has been losing revenue of up to Rs 2000 crore per year.
