Six new channel licenses issued, total number of channels in India has reached 832

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has issued licenses to six new television channels, taking the total number of television channels in the country to 832. Among the six new licenses issued, five are for non-news channels. The news channel license is acquired by Sadhna Media Network, the firm that operates Sadhna, Sadhna News and Ishwar channels. India’s total broadband user base is 99.20 million as of March 2015, rural user base stands at 25.51 million

India’s rural broadband user base has reached 25.51 million, with Karnataka being the state with the highest rural users. Around 2.77 million users are from rural Karnataka. BARC India defines rules for usage of television ratings in public domain

Call drops: Maximum complaints against Airtel, followed by Vodafone
