GSM Heads Move FM On Spectrum Refarming Issue

The heads of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular have jointly written a letter to Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee seeking his intervention to prevent spectrum refarming, which apart from resulting in an increase in call rates, would cost them over Rs 1 lakh crore. Refarming Spectrum To Impact Connectivity and Consumers

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s proposal on spectrum refarming will have a substantial cost to the industry, including an increase in tariff that would inconvenience to consumers in coming days, with no benefit to stakeholders.
