The Department of Telecommunications’ (DoT) licensing wing has allocated a new set of MSC codes to Aircel, Airtel, Vodafone, and Idea. As per DoT, new MSC codes are assigned to operators who have managed to garner a subscriber base of over a million subscribers in a licensed service area. TRAI recommends single number based ‘Integrated emergency communication & response system (IECRS)’

TRAI has today given its recommendations for establishing '112' as a single number that can be dialled in case of any of emergency situation, similar to 911 being used in USA.
