Xiaomi Sells Over 5 Million Units of Redmi Note 5 Series in India

Xiaomi continues to break records in the Indian smartphone market. The Chinese company which is also the country's leading smartphone brand with 31% market share has now announced that the Redmi Note 5 series have crossed 5 million sales within four months of launch. The Redmi Note 5 series in India includes the standard Redmi Note 5 and the premium Redmi Note 5 Pro. Xiaomi, however, did not reveal which smartphone did better. "We believe it's the fastest selling phone series in India to cross the 5 million mark in the given time across all platforms," said Xiaomi in a press statement.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro back on February 14 in India. In the first sale itself, the company sold over 3 lakh units of both the smartphones. Earlier, Xiaomi sold both the handsets in flash sales, but later on, the Redmi Note 5 went on for open sale in the country. Xiaomi is still selling the Redmi Note 5 Pro in flash sale every week.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in India is available in a 3GB RAM/32GB storage option at Rs 9,999, whereas the 4GB RAM/64GB storage option is available for Rs 11,999. The Note 5 Pro's base variant with 4GB RAM/64GB storage can be picked up for Rs 14,999, whereas the 6GB RAM variant is available for Rs 16,999. Initially, the Note 5 Pro's base variant was priced at Rs 13,999, but the price has been revised to Rs 14,999 later on.

Last year, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 was the bestselling phone in India as the company sold ten million units within one year and five million units in the first six months. This year, the sales of the Redmi Note 5 series has surpassed five million within four months itself.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is still the best camera smartphone under Rs 15,000, whereas the Redmi Note 5 is still one of the good looking and best battery smartphone under Rs 10,000. Both the smartphones can be picked up from Flipkart, Mi.com or at Mi Home stores in India.
