Xiaomi Global VP Teases Redmi K20 Launch

Xiaomi Global VP, Manu Kumar Jain today tweeted a photo which read “Congratulations OnePlus team. There’s a new flagship in town. Flagship Killer 2.0: coming soon…Hold my dragon!” The accompanying image which the Xiaomi Global VP has uploaded reads “Congratulations, OnePlus! We heard about your new flagship…Regards Flagship Killer 2.0” This image apparently hints towards the upcoming phone from Redmi which the brand is going to release in China in the coming days. On Tuesday, we also got to know that this new phone from Redmi would be called the Redmi K20. The name was revealed by the Xiaomi GM, Lu Weibing on the Chinese website Weibo.

The executive had also revealed that the “K” in the name of the phone would stand for “Killer” and the new tweet from Jain also hints towards the same. With this new release, Xiaomi is looking at the opportunity of competing with OnePlus and is pitting its flagship against the latest OnePlus 7 release. It is worth noting that both the phones that will be competing against each other come with the Snapdragon 855 SoC, which is the top-of-the-line chipset for the flagship phones out there right now.

Redmi K20 Series Rumoured Specifications

In the past few days, we have already come to know a lot about the upcoming Redmi flagship. A few days back, tipster Ishan Agrawal leaked the name of the device as well, following which the company officially confirmed the moniker of this new phone as the Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro. We have even heard that the Redmi K20 would sport a pop-up selfie camera and there has also been a video leak to support the claim. On the rear side, we will probably get to see a 48MP camera sensor. The phone has also been rumoured to sport a big 6.3-inch AMOLED screen and a 4000mAh battery with 27W fast charging. The flagship Redmi K20 Pro will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC.
