Chinese smartphone vendor, Xiaomi has been quite successful in India with the Redmi series of phones. Xiaomi India has already sent out media invites for an event today in India for launching a new Redmi phone last week, and the phone is made official today. Xiaomi has launched the entry-level Redmi 4A in India at a price tag of Rs. 5,999.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4A was launched in China for RMB 599, which roughly translates to a price tag of little above Rs. 6,000. The Xiaomi Redmi 4A comes with entry-level specifications but justifies the asking price. It flaunts a 5-inch HD display with no mentioning from Xiaomi of any protective layer on top. Under-the-hood, the phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC, clubbed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. That said, it's a good thing to see Xiaomi offering 2GB of RAM in a sub Rs. 6,000 price bracket as other vendors are still sticking with 1GB of RAM. Adreno 308 GPU will take graphics in the phone care.

The phone also comes with microSD card slot to expand the storage, but do make a note that it's a hybrid slot and you can either use your secondary SIM card or memory card. The phone comes with connectivity options such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11/b/g/n, Bluetooth, and GPS chip.

Xiaomi is not making any changes to the camera of the phone with the Chinese version. The Redmi 4A comes with a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing camera. The rear camera also has support for LED flash. Another highlight in the Redmi 4A is that it comes with a pretty big 3120mAh battery, much better than what other vendors offer.

The Xiaomi Redmi 4A comes laden with Android Marshmallow based MIUI 8. Unlike other Redmi phones released in recent times, the Redmi 4A comes with a plastic body and Xiaomi launched the phone in only three colours in India- dark grey, gold, and pink. Xiaomi already confirmed Redmi 4A as an exclusive to Amazon India.
