Mi Protect Inside MIUI Security App

For those who don’t know, Mi Protect is Xiaomi’s own device protection scheme which it offers with its smartphone during the time of purchase. However, some consumers decide not to spend extra bucks on a device protection scheme only to regret it later. To stop that from happening and to provide an extended opportunity for the new smartphone buyers to get Mi Protect, Xiaomi will offer the facility to buy Mi Protect for their phones inside the MIUI Security app itself. However, new smartphone buyers will have to purchase a Mi Protect plan within 15 days of their date of smartphone purchase using this method. This scheme will cover repair costs in case your phone suffers accidental/liquid damage.

To buy Mi Protect right from your Xiaomi smartphone, you can head over to the Security app on your Mi device and open the hardware test menu. Here on, click on Mi Protect. Now you will need to follow the on-screen instructions, and then you will need to make the payment towards the end. This new service by Xiaomi, Mi Protect powered by OneAssist will now be turned on for your device.

Mi Recycle Feature Explained

Mi Recycle is the second new functionality under the MIUI Security app. This new feature powered by Cashify will help the Xiaomi phone users in selling their current smartphone without any hassle. Depending on the hardware quality, physical condition and market valuation of the device, Xiaomi phone users will be able to sell their device easily online.

How to Sell Your Xiaomi Phone on Mi Recycle

Firstly, the users will have to initiate the hardware test on their device from the Hardware test menu, following that, the users will be greeted with Mi Recycle page. Here on, you will need to select your city and follow the instructions on screen for further hardware tests. You will be required to enter some details manually. Once the process is complete, you will be given your estimated price.

After the hardware testing and price estimation process are complete, the payment process will be initiated. Users can take payment using bank transfer, Voucher or PayTM. Once the amount is credited, the company will start the pickup process. The order details and order flow will be forwarded to the user, and an assigned person will pick up the device from the user’s place at a select date and time.

In the Mi forum post, Xiaomi has also clarified that only a few limited cities have been listed in the Mi Recycle app for now. However, in the future, the list will be expanded to include more cities. Also, these features currently remain limited to the MIUI Beta ROM 8.9.13 onwards and they will be available in MIUI Stable ROM soon, Xiaomi has said.
