As every Xiaomi user is waiting for the MIUI 9 update based on Android Nougat, Xiaomi made a surprise on their MIUI forums saying that the company is releasing a new MIUI 8.2 update for some of their devices.
The eligible devices for the first batch of MIUI 8.2 update are:
- Xiaomi Mi Max
- Xiaomi Mi Max Prime
- Xiaomi Mi 4i
- Xiaomi Mi 3
- Xiaomi Mi 4
- Xiaomi Mi Note
- Xiaomi Redmi 1S
- Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G
Also, Xiaomi teased the release of this update on their official Weibo account saying as ‘See You Tomorrow’ with an arrow mark pointing upwards. Now, that's interesting. Will Xiaomi update the devices to Android Nougat directly? We have to wait until tomorrow for that as the company hasn't revealed any changelog for the upgrade.
The MIUI 8.2 Stable update will be first rolled out to the above-mentioned devices, and later on, the Apple of East will release the update for all their devices.
Currently, the only Xiaomi device which has been updated to MIUI 8.2 based on Android Nougat is the last year’s flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 5. Also, the firm released a beta update for the Xiaomi Mi Max and Mi Max Prime of MIUI 8.2.

At the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 launch event in India, Xiaomi announced that they would release the beta update of Android Nougat based MIUI 8.1.2 for the Indian versions of Redmi Note 4. True to their words, the company rolled out the update for Note 4 in India and is currently under beta testing.
