Xiaomi launched the top-end Mi TV 4 in February this year. Later, the company launched the Mi TV 4A in the country thus advancing the series of televisions. What made these TVs special was the PatchWall UI – a custom skin on top embedded in these devices by Xiaomi. Now, the company has launched a new update for the PatchWall UI which brings some major and minor changes to the TVs. The update which has been expected to ship via the OTA method on the Mi TV 4 and the Mi TV 4A brings the build number 1.0.19 on board. Speaking of features, the new update adds the clear viewing history function along with an improved universal search with no character limit.

Sudeep Sahu, Xiaomi India Product Manager put out the release notes which revealed that the PatchWall UI would finally get the ability to clear history across both live TV and on-demand streaming apps like YouTube, Hotstar, etc. Users will be able to delete history either selectively or entirely. If they want to delete a single instance, they can head over to a particular channel and then delete the history by clicking on the delete button located on the top right. The Clear All button can be used to delete the entire history.

The Universal Search also gets an update, wherein now the users can search anything without character limitation. The limit of characters in the search query was previously set to 13 characters. However, a Twitter query was raised for this issue which encouraged the people at Xiaomi to implement this update. Previously, movies or titles with long names couldn’t be searched because of this limitation.

In the month of February, the Xiaomi Mi TV 4 was launched with a price tag of Rs 39,999 and later in May, the price was revised with a hike of Rs 5,000 due to rising import costs and depreciation of the Indian rupee. Xiaomi is also selling a couple of other models under Mi TV 4A. The 32-inch variant of the Mi TV 4A is priced at Rs 13,999, while the 43-inch model retails for Rs 23,999. The TVs are available online on Flipkart and Mi.com, and offline at Mi Home stores.
