With a such a huge crowd, Xiaomi is expected to launch multiple products including an alleged Mi 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone alongside Mi 7 flagship and Mi Band 3 fitness tracker. The reports confirm the existence of the Xiaomi Mi 8th Anniversary smartphone as the company has formally introduced in the Mi Community. The product name was also recently spotted among other Xiaomi devices on the Chinese version of Mi Store app.

A tipster from China claimed that the 8th Anniversary Edition phone from the company would be launched as the Xiaomi Mi 8. Moreover, freshly leaked photos showing box package and front panel of alleged Mi 8 have appeared online. Image of a retail box of an alleged smartphone with large “8” was leaked on Chinese website My Drivers.

Also, another image showcasing a front panel placed inside a plastic cover with Xiaomi Mi 8 mentioned over it surfaced via Slashleaks. The image shows a wide notch on the top of the display and the device appears to be sporting ultra-thin bezels on the side and small chin on the bottom.

In addition, an image showing the 3D face recognition module of the phone was recently revealed online. It is claimed that Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone will feature advanced 3D facial recognition system similar to iPhone X’s Face ID. Unfortunately, there are no additional details like specs or pricing of Mi 8.

While the existence of Mi 7, and Mi 8 seems pretty confusing, some reports say the Xiaomi Mi 7 will be rebranded Mi 8 to honour Xiaomi’s eight year anniversary. Other reports say that Xiaomi will launch Mi 7 as it is while the larger Mi 7 Plus will be introduced as Mi 8. Whatever the case, more information can be expected as we get closer to May 31 launch date.
