Xiaomi’s products have taken the Indian market by storm. When it comes to smartphones, there is no other company which comes close to what Xiaomi offers in terms of affordability. However, the company has not limited itself to this segment. The Chinese tech giant has been on the task of launching affordable TVs which are also making a buzz in the Indian markets. One of the latest offerings by Xiaomi is the Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43 which not only offers a 43-inch screen combined with some impressive features, but it also provides a measly Rs 23,000 price tag. However, before you go ahead and approve your purchase, here are a few things you must know about the Mi LED TV 4A Pro.

Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43-inch Review: Design

There is hardly anyone out there who would doubt Xiaomi’s design brilliance when it comes to smartphones, but when it comes to TVs also, Xiaomi knows what the people like best. This fact is also true for the Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43 which sports a minimalistic design clad in black. The bezels are thin which adds to the attractive build of the screen. The only problem that the buyers may find with the Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43 is with the thickness of the screen. Although the edges of the TV are slim, on the middle the bulk of the device is more than 7cm thick. On the front, the screen is a little sensitive to touch as you can see it flexing on even a slight touch. The TV also comes with an easily installable base piece. In case you would like to mount the TV on the wall, then you would have to buy the wall-mount separately.

Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43-inch Review: Specifications and Connectivity

The Mi LED TV 4A Pro sports a quad-core chip from Amlogic under the hood. The chipset comprises of Cortex A53 CPU and Mali 450 GPU and it is paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage, and for connectivity, it offers three HDMI ports. The HDMI ports are enough for connecting your gaming console, set-top box, and Amazon Fire Stick. For more connectivity, there are three USB ports as well so that you can connect your hard drive or thumb drives. When it comes to wireless connectivity, the TV provides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and there is also an Ethernet port in case you want to connect to the internet.

Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43-inch Review: Picture and Sound Quality

When it comes to quality, the Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43 has been advertised as a Full HD “LED TV” with 178-degree viewing angle and 60 Hz refresh rate. However, that is something which Xiaomi has put on paper when tested; the TV revealed to have some brightness issues. The drawback lies in the TV’s recreation of true blacks which are sub-par at best. The colour reproduction on the TV is good, however, there is significant noise in the gradient test.

The TV also offers modes like Standard, Movies, Vivid, Sports, Monitor, Gaming, and Custom so that you are spared the ordeal of tweaking with the brightness, contrast and other settings. For movies with dark backgrounds or dark colours, dynamic backlighting will come in handy for the viewers.

The sound on the TV is felt to be sufficient enough for watching movies, news or TV shows, and given that the TV is a budget segment one, it is unlikely that people will pair it with a Soundbar. However, while listening to music, users can connect the TV with a Soundbar for more enhanced output and better sound quality.

Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43-inch Review: Smart TV Elements

Like Xiaomi’s other TV offerings, this one also comes with Patchwall UI. There is no doubt that the Patchwall UI brings an incremental upgrade over the Android TV UI, but Xiaomi also gives the option to the users to switch between the two. There is, however, one detail which the users might not like and it concerns the layout of the keyboard which has been arranged from A-Z instead of in a QWERTY format which makes entering passwords or any text a tedious task.

The TV also comes with built-in Chromecast which makes it feasible for the users to stream content directly from your phone, but there is no availability of popular apps like Netflix or Amazon. Although users can use the Amazon Prime Video stick to stream the content, the quality over that is arguably a bit lower than the original app.

Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4A Pro 43-inch Review: Verdict

The Xiaomi Mi LED TV 4A Pro is a good buy for someone looking to buy a budget TV in the Rs 20,000 price range. Although there are some drawbacks to this offering by Xiaomi, the price point justifies what the TV packs. In case you don’t mind a smaller screen then you can also opt for other TVs like iFALCON’s smart TV which costs Rs 17,000. Kodak also has a 4K Android TV priced at just Rs 23,999, but the software on that Smart TV is a hot mess right now.
