The next Android One device in Xiaomi’s portfolio, the Mi A2 is all set to launch next month in India. Xiaomi has already sent out the media invites for the launch event of the Xiaomi Mi A2 which has been scheduled for August 8. The phone has already launched globally in Spain, and we know now that it is the rebranded version of the Mi 6X which launched in China earlier. The new Mi A2 furthers the line-up of Android One smartphones started by Mi A1 last year and this time it comes with the latest Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone has climbed to receive massive hype right ahead of its launch in India. Amazon India has also put up a dedicated page for Xiaomi Mi A2 where users can sign in to receive updates about the phone’s launch. The e-commerce giant has also dropped some tidbits about the new phone along with the processor, memory and camera specs.

The handset is expected to go live for sale a week after the launch. It will be up for grabs on Xiaomi’s Mi.com and Amazon as well. Also, it has been hinted that the phone will come in only the 4GB and 64GB variant as the entry-level model in India. The 4GB and 32GB RAM variant won’t make its way to the Indian market. Xiaomi Mi A2 buyers will also have four colour options to choose from Gold, Black, Blue and a newly added Rose Gold.

Also, the Mi A2 does not come with a 3.5mm headphone jack. On the software front, the phone boots optimised stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo, certified by Google's Android One programme.

The connectivity options on the phone include 4G LTE, Bluetooth v5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Miracast, an IR emitter, and USB Type-C. Sensors on the handset include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope, and proximity sensor. A 3010mAh battery powers the device

Xiaomi Mi A2 Pricing

Xiaomi launched the Mi A2 in Spain at the price of EUR 249 (roughly Rs 20,100) for the 4GB RAM and 32GB storage variant. However, we know that this variant isn’t going to launch in India. The new variant, which is the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option, bears a price tag of EUR 279 (roughly Rs 22,500), and the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option costs EUR 349 (around Rs 28,100). However, given the exchange rates, it is quite possible that the phone might be priced slightly lesser in India.
